Good to know

What is special about 2034?
  • In 2034, seven public holidays fall on a weekday; between 2024 and 2035 it is 6 to 9, depending on the year.
  • Falling on a weekend: New Year's Day (Sun 1 Jan) and St. Joseph's Day (Sun 19 Mar). As a rule, there is no entitlement to a substitute day.
  • In 2034, Christmas Day (Mon 25 Dec) also gives you a long weekend without taking leave.
  • The most worthwhile bridges: Ascension Day, Corpus Christi, Swiss National Day and Assumption Day, each with 1 day of leave for 4 days off in a row. Calculate all bridge days in 2034
What is different in the canton of Schwyz?

Apart from Valais, Schwyz is the only canton in which St. Joseph's Day (19 March) is a public holiday. Easter Monday, Whit Monday and St. Stephen's Day, on the other hand, are only cantonal rest days and therefore working days under employment law. In addition, some municipalities and districts have their own holidays, such as St. Meinrad's Day in Einsiedeln.
