Questions about the working hours calculator

How does the calculator work?

It counts all days of the year that fall on one of your working days and deducts the ticked holidays. Target hours are the working days multiplied by the hours per working day and, for part-time work, by your employment level. If you enter the working time per week, it is spread evenly over your working days. A holiday that falls on a day off (e.g. a Saturday) is not deducted.

Which holidays are deducted?

By default, all holidays that apply throughout the canton: public holidays, cantonal rest days and days that are customarily off. Days that apply only in some districts or municipalities are not ticked. Choose your district or tick the day yourself.

How are half holidays counted?

Half holidays, such as a free afternoon, count as half a working day. For your own days off you choose whether a full or a half day is off. If two days off fall on the same date, the deduction is made only once.

How do I calculate for part-time work?

If you work shorter hours on all days, leave the working time at 100 % (e.g. 42 hours per week) and enter your employment level, e.g. 80 %. If you work full days on certain days only, choose only those weekdays and leave the employment level at 100 %. Please do not do both at the same time, otherwise the reduction is counted twice.

Is leave deducted?

Not from the target hours: leave is a paid absence and is usually credited in time tracking with the target hours of the day. If you enter your days of leave, the calculator also shows how many days and hours you actually work. For part-time work, enter your pro-rata leave entitlement.

Is the result binding?

No. Your employment contract, a collective labour agreement or the staff regulations are decisive. Some companies count holidays differently or give additional days off, for example before holidays. All information without guarantee.

Is my data stored?

Your settings and own days off are only stored in your browser’s memory so that they are still there on your next visit. The PDFs are also created directly in your browser. Nothing is sent to us.
